Do you work in an office? Have a cubicle? Work around people who seem to care less for hygiene than yourself? Most people will be in this situation one time in their lives but being around other people all day or in a small confined area should not discourage yourself from taking measures to ensure you’re comfortable. With a few tweaks to your office space, you’ll feel much more relaxed and productive to get through the week.
Rest Your Eyes
Staring all day at a computer screen can increase the risk of developing Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). Human eyes are not adapted to staring at bright screens for prolonged periods of time at such close range. People may experience discomfort such as headaches, blurred vision, red and itchy eyes, and the deterioration of visual acuity over time. CVS can be prevented by staring at objects away from you for 15-20 seconds every 20 minutes or so.
Air in the office isn’t something we can claim, it is something everyone must share and take equal responsibility for—although this never happens. There are those who eat, cough, and sneeze around our area and even those who come back into the office after a cigarette break thinking the two sprays of Calvin Klein will keep them impervious to odor. A small air purifier will do wonders in keeping your desk or office space clean and fresh. Making sure there are no open foods nearby and wiping down the desk area should help too.
Take Charge of Your Area
The layout of your office or cubicle can affect your mood, which can in turn affect your ability to perform at your duties. Try decorating your desk with photos of your loved ones and keep things clean and organized to keep your blood pressure at bay and your mind on your task.
These steps are some tips that will help improve your time while at work. Clean air. All day. Everyday.
